10. Pulley A is connected via a belt to a motor (not shown), which creates the in-
dicated tensions. The motor causes the assembly to rotate at 500 rpm. The
resulting power is delivered via the shaft to pulley B, creating tensions, $T_2$ and
$T_1$, which work on some load (not shown). Both pulleys are fixed to the shaft.
You may assume perfect bearings at O and C.
(a) Assuming steady-state operation, find the power delivered through this pulley-
shaft-pulley assembly. Hint: Find the net torque on pulley A. Then use the
formula $Pow = T\omega$, being very careful with units (all dimensions are in
mm).
(b) Find the magnitudes of the tensions, $T_2$ and $T_1$. You may assume that the
slack-side tension is 10% of the tight-side tension. Is it very clear to you
which is larger?
