EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The report is made based on the field knowledge that we gathered from our LFE SPRING 2018 course that took place between December 10th to December 17th of 2018. For the field survey, my assigned village was "HOSSAINPUR Village, East Para" of the district Comilla, which is a beautiful place indeed. And people there we met are very friendly and cooperative too. I was coordinated at BARD Comilla, from where I conducted this survey with my team. To gather information we performed PRAs consisting of male and female of different age groups and focus group interviews. Based on our survey, I mainly focused on five major parts in this report. Throughout the whole survey we tried to analyse the village area, its social changes, health and environment, economic and agricultural conditions and market aspects. The first four parts I surveyed in the village whereas the last part I surveyed in the local Hatbazar (Kalirhat Bazar).
On the first day of my field work, I had to conduct a survey for posturizing the resources and transect map of my assigned village para. Walking around the whole village, I tried to find out the village resources like road, land, electricity line, tree, houses, yards, ponds, crop fields, tubewells, fishing, school, mosque, soil type etc. We drew the village map with the help of villagers and took the transact way of 250 steps by ourselves.
On the second day of my survey, I was asked to draw a social map showing the whole social structure and social changes of the village. We talked to the village people closely to get to know how their social lives have been changed after Liberation War and what their current condition is. For showing the changes in social structure, I differentiated all the general social people residing on the village into some categories and classes according to their lifestyle and living standard. Again for showing the social changes on the basis of time, I tried to find out the social changes those were held on the environment, family type, communication system, dowry system, marriage system, education and so on. My main concentration was to know whether these changes were positive or not, through analyzing those changes on a timeline basis.
Economy of a village reflects the overall situation on which a village will survive. Without enough money a village can't get out from poverty. Because of the decreasing rate of cultivable lands in Hossainpur, villages income sources has been greatly impacted. For this reason my analysis were based on the present economic condition of the villagers, their socioeconomic status or wealth ranking (rich, middle and poor), their occupations and income etc. I also found out their crop-storage condition, house condition, their loaning process (microcredit). I also tried to identify the accurate rural production cycle of their main crops from the farmers. I got to know the NGO's activity in the village.
In order to survey the health and environment conditions of Hossainpur Village, I had
