Holy Family's Mission & Value Through Articles
Holy Family University provides undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree programs to
students. As the university wants to pursue inspiration and direction from the life and teachings
of Jesus Christ. In the Catholic tradition, the missions and values of Holy Family University
educate the student to be bound by their responsibilities with God, society, and self through
family, respect, integrity, service and responsibility, learning, and vision. These values can be
shown through the articles: Mother Mary Frances Siedliska in America and The Martyrs of
Nowogrodek.
Sister Siedliska showed her ministries when nursing the sick, caring for orphans, teaching
the youth. The congregation had eleven sisters take charge of the schools and an orphanage
where a 10-year-old boy was sick. Mother Frances Siedliska and her fellow sisters treated
everyone as they were equal, and cared for them as family. Sister Siedliska's response to the
situation she finds in Chicago demonstrates respect for the members of the Polish Catholic
community. Orphans, the poor, the students in the schools - all are worthy of the care and regard
of the nuns. All are human beings endowed with fundamental human dignity. Sister Siedliks's
convictions and trueness to self exemplified by her joining the religious life

When they were called to nurse the sick showed service and responsibility, Mother
Siedliska built a 24-bed hospital on May 8, 1894, after petitions were made to build it. She had
the vision to expand the hospital and have professional treatment and care for the patients.
The Martyrs of Nowogrdek demonstrated Integrity when they showed the local people
deep faith, hope, and love. In World War II the order and harmony were disturbed by the Soviets
and the Germans because of this the nuns had a close relationship with the local people as a
family. As people were being killed the nuns still had a lot of faith and hope in God, but they
didn't want those with a family to be tormented and killed.
