What would happen if there was a sudden increase in the amount of greenhouse gases in Earth’s atmosphere? Earth would suddenly cool down because more heat would leave the Earth system and go back to space. Earth would suddenly cool down because solar radiation would not be able to flow through the atmosphere. Earth would suddenly warm up because more heat from the atmosphere would be radiated toward Earth’s surface. Earth would suddenly warm up because more heat from the Sun would be allowed to enter the atmosphere.
