Generally, what is the ideal Rf value of the analyte when using TLC to choose a solvent for column chromatography? An ideal Rf value lies between 0.3 to 0.6 since it is likely that other compounds are present in the mixture and will be visible on the TLC plate when the Rf value is in this range.
