When Biochemists use SDS-PAGE, they typically add the SDS to the buffered protein, and then put the sample tube into a boiling water bath for 2-3 minutes. One does not do this for ordinary PAGE. a. Explain the role of SDS in SDS-PAGE. Considering the role of the SDS, provide a rationale as to why boiling the sample is necessary in order for the SDS to perform this role.
